Workshop on Anaesthesia and Pain Management

Aimed specifically at medical translators, this in-depth workshop will explore the areas of anaesthesia and pain management.

MBChB, FRCA, PGCE and her colleague at the West Suffolk Hospital, Clinical Nurse Specialist Dawn Pretty. Dr Bright has worked as a consultant anaesthetist for over ten years. Her interests are preoperative assessment, anaesthesia for major colorectal surgery and emergency surgery. She has been an examiner for the Royal College of Anaesthetists for the past five years. She has a major commitment to medical education and is a Tutor for the Graduate Course in Medicine at the University of Cambridge, involved in the recruitment, training and assessment of medical students. Dawn Pretty works in the Pain Clinic, which offers a wide range of pain management techniques.

Programme:

11:00 AM -- Dr Bright's talk on Anaesthesia - Seminar Room A0.23, Foundation for Management Education (FME)

2:00 PM -- Dawn Pretty's talk on Pain Management - Seminar Room A0.23, Foundation for Management Education (FME)

3:30 PM -- Coffee/tea break

4:00 PM -- Practical translation session*

5:30 PM -- Finish

* During the practical translation session participants will be divided into language groups to work on the papers provided beforehand, with Dr Bright and Dawn Pretty circulating among the groups to offer expert advice.
